Costume

As our video is representing a seemingly innocent and helpless character, we decided to use costume to present this.

Since white is the colour used to present innocence, we decided our main character should wear something white to display this. From looking at other music videos that use white clothing to present innocence, we noticed that skirts and dresses were most commonly used on women: we thought this might have been because they bring in an element of youth, which links to innocence and a lack of experience in the world.

We have decided to look at white dresses, and have began to search for one that matches our initial image in our heads.

This dress is one of the most simple we could find, which we thought was the most appealing. As we didn't want it to be too distracting for the audience, the lack of patterns and design means that the audience can recognise it but not be too overwhelmed by it. Furthermore, the fact that it is plain matches the dull and seemingly uninteresting life the character lives. They are made of their demons, and nothing else matters but that. We feel this dress would present this message the most.

This dress is appealing as it has a more "childish" style to it than the other dress. The way the long skirt ruffles and flows outwards reminds us of a dress worn by young girls on special occasions such as birthday parties. We felt that occasions like these symbolise the innocence and purity that we want the clothing of our character to express. It will create more attention than the previous one, but we don't think it would overpower the story within the music video or the message portrayed by the costume.

This dress has a similar shape to the previous one, however has an obvious pattern and different texture to the others. It had a more natural seem to it, giving the character more personality than the other two plain white dresses. As the representation of the character is important to the plot, we thought it might be good to consider something that develops the characters personal tastes and style. However, we don't find this dress to be as fitting to our video as the previous two.

This costume is a very vintage style dress, which we think would look more effective in our location, as that is the kind of house we are looking for. It is not the colour white we have decided on, therefore it will be hard for us to decide to use this costume.
