Choosing a Name: Researching Ideas

In order to create a name for our artist, we decided to look at other artists and and their names, analysing their choices and how it represents them.

1. Halsey

Halsey was created due to a personal memory: a train station from the town she grew up in. It is also a creative anagram of her own name, Ashley.

2. Lana Del Rey

Lana Del Rey, despite not explicitly mentioning the purpose of her name, matched both her name and her style of music to a vintage, old fashioned theme. The name itself is suitable for her genre and personal tastes.

3. Lady Gaga

Lady Gaga created a memorable and original name, with "Gaga" creating a first impression of being wild or crazy. However, the use of "Lady" also reminds us that she is of authority, and is also human just like all of us.

4. Imagine Dragons

Imagine Dragons is very representative of their futuristic and dream-like visual: it matches their Dystopian cover art and the diversity of their music style.

5. BTS

BTS is a shortened and international name for the Korean "Bangtan Sonyeondan", meaning "Bulletproof Boy Scouts". The bullets are representative of Propaganda and threats from society, and BTS use their name to suggest to their audience that their music can support them and keep them from harm.
