Artist Focus: Troye Sivan
Troye Sivan is an Australian, Indie Pop / Electropop singer songwriter, who debuted in 2014. He produced an EP named "TRXYE", which included a number of different styles of music: one of which being Electropop, seen through "Happy Little Pill". It matches the music style of artists such as Halsey and Tove Lo. He has become a sensation for many due to his references and experiences with controversial topics, which he portrays in his music. These include: sexual equality, homosexuality and family relationships. Ultimately, Sivan sings of his own experiences and can therefore be linked to the likes of Halsey, who does the same in order to create a connection between herself and her music.
Sivan released his first album, "Blue Neighbourhood", in 2016, including a music video trilogy of the same title. This trilogy followed a narrative of two young boys, from youth to present day. The videos express their feelings for each other, and the reactions and relationships of family. You can watch the full cut here. The rest of the music on the album reflects this, and follows a more indie style, with lyrics overpowering the beat itself.
The singer also managed to win a Stephen F. Kolzak Award - awarded to someone who effectively works to spread the message of Equality and acceptance. He is currently the youngest person to have ever won the award, and made a powerful speech of acceptance to go with it.
Troye Sivan has worked with a number of artists such as Alessia Cara and Martin Garrix. He is currently working on a new album and recently released a new single, Heaven, featuring Betty Who. You can listen to it here.
